Motor City to Wheel Hub Live is a 1,000-mile back-road driving adventure connecting Detroit, Indianapolis, Route 66, Des Moines and Lincoln, NE — May 16–23, 2026. Designed for drivers who believe the journey matters as much as the destination.

The Motor City

We kick things off in Detroit, the Motor City — ground zero for American automotive innovation, manufacturing and performance culture. We’ll explore how Detroit helped shape everything we love about cars from early production vehicles to muscle cars and motorsports dominance.

The Lingenfelter Collection

One of the highlights of this year’s adventure is a private evening at the Lingenfelter Collection, home to an extraordinary assortment of rare Corvettes, muscle cars, exotics and modern performance machines. Pavement Pounder Events participants will enjoy exclusive access to this private collection along with a catered dinner.

Cord-Auburn-Duesenberg Museum

Located in the original Auburn Automobile Company headquarters, the Cord-Auburn-Duesenberg Museum collection features some of the most beautifully designed and engineered cars ever built — a reminder that innovation and style have always gone hand in hand.

The Brickyard

This Next, we roll into Indianapolis for a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The Brickyard is sacred ground for racers and fans alike, and we’ll be there during the week leading up to this year’s Indy 500 race.

Route 66

2026 marks the 100-year anniversary of Route 66. We’ll make a stop in Springfield, IL, honoring the highway that defined the American road trip.

Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum

We’ll explore the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, a Midwest aviation destination devoted to flight, space exploration and the powerful aircraft that helped define the Cold War era. Nestled just off Interstate 80 between Omaha and Lincoln, the museum houses more than 300,000 square feet of hangars filled iconic long-range bombers and reconnaissance jets.

Wheel Hub Live

Our drive concludes in Lincoln at Wheel Hub Live, hosted at the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, NE. Registration for Pavement Pounder Events automatically includes full registration for Wheel Hub Live, a two-day gathering that perfectly aligns with our mission and mindset. We will participate in the Wheel Hub Reliability Run, a driving tour around Nebraska, enjoy a Wheel Hub magazine feature car exhibit and have plenty of time to explore the Museum of American Speed and its unmatched collection. And we’ll get to hang out with the editors and photographers for Wheel Hub magazine and rub shoulders this year’s feature car builders.
